The goalkeeper has reportedly agreed to make the move to Liverpool.
Their scouts have been impressed, and told Jurgen Klopp as much, leading to the player becoming one of their top targets for the summer transfer window.
He is available at a decent price too, with him currently having a €10million, around £7.9million release clause in his contract.
It seems they are willing to pay that, with Kicker now reporting that the deal is very close indeed after the player broadly agreed to make the move to Anfield.
As far as the report is concerned, the 22-year-old would go straight into the Liverpool first team for next season to replace current number one Simon Mignolet.
The Belgian has come in for stern criticism during his time at the club, with a number of high profile errors leading to calls for a change in number one.
That now appears to be happening, and should Karius complete the move as expected, it will be interesting to see who Klopp has as his first choice next season.
