Mark Noble says West Ham's season still a great one

West Ham United were beaten by Stoke City on the final day of the season.

West Ham United captain Mark Noble has called for context after their final day disappointment, to the club’s official website.

West Ham headed into the final day looking to secure a win against Stoke City to ensure they finished in the top six.

Instead it proved to be a disastrous afternoon for them, as the Potters ran out as 2-1 winners in the game.

That saw Slaven Bilic’s side slide into seventh, meaning they need a Manchester United victory in the FA Cup final to secure European football.

That was obviously disappointing for them, but Noble has called for context, insisting it has still been a great season.

“We have to take this result into context and that is we’ve had a great season, we come on a long way,” he told whufc.com.

“I’ve always said this season was probably the most important in the club’s history, for sure. Moving stadiums we had to make sure we were a solid Premier League team and we did that midway through the season.”

Even if West Ham do not secure European football this season, there is no denying that has still been a great season for them.

There were some who predicted that things could go wrong under Slaven Bilic, but instead they have challenged at the top end of the table throughout.

European football would have been the icing on the cake, but even without it the future is still bright as they move into the Olympic Stadium.
