Sky Sports pundit predicts Brighton v Sheffield Wednesday outcome

Brighton & Hove Albion and Sheffield Wednesday will face each other in the Championship this evening.

Former Queens Park Rangers and Millwall manager Ian Holloway has predicted on that Brighton & Hove Albion will win against Sheffield Wednesday on Monday evening.

Brighton will take on Wednesday in the second leg of the Championship playoff semi-final tie at the American Express Community Stadium.

The first leg of the tie at the Hillsborough Stadium on Friday evening ended in a 2-0 victory for the Owls.

Wednesday will head into the second leg as favourites to progress to the Championship playoff final, and Holloway has backed them to do just that.

The former Leicester City boss, though, has predicted Brighton to win the second leg 2-1.

“Hughton is a very experienced man and will do his best to put a team together to trouble a confident Wednesday outfit,” Holloway wrote on

“They’ve got to claw back a two-goal deficit, but I think they'll give it a good go in front of their home fans, who have to create a raucous atmosphere, like the Wednesday fans did on Friday. I urge the Brighton fans to stay with their team.

“Can Hughton's boys do it? Of course. Will they? They'll need everything to go their way. They may just fall short.”

A footnote added: “OLLIE PREDICTS: 2-1”

The first goal in the second leg will be key. If Brighton score first, then they will gain confidence and could get the second goal.

However, if Carlos Carvalhal’s side find the net at the the American Express Community Stadium, then it is hard to see the Seagulls get back into the tie.
