French club Rennes have made contact with Cardiff City defender Bruno Ecuele Manga, according to L’Équipe.
The Gabonese international centre-back is allegedly wanted by Premier Clubs as well as Spanish side Sevilla.
However, it is thought French Ligue 1 side Rennes have made the first move in the race to sign the defender having reportedly made contact with the Cardiff man.
The new manager at Roazhon Park, Christian Gourcuff, is keen to be reunited with Ecuele Manga whom he managed at the defender’s former club Lorient.
Ecuele Manga joined Championship side Cardiff in 2014 for a reported fee of £5 million, making an instant impact in an impressive first season before suffering an injury-blighted campaign this time round.
He returned to first-team action in April following successive knee and groin problems, and he has made over 50 appearances in total for the Welsh club since his arrival.
The seasoned international is thought to be held in high regard both in Wales and elsewhere, and with Premier League clubs circling the strong defender, Cardiff will do well to keep hold of him in the summer.
