Photos: Newcastle fans send clear message to Benitez, Mike Ashley looks perplexed

Newcastle United have been relegated from the Premier League and will play in the Championship next season.

Newcastle United ended their 2015-16 Premier League campaign on a winning note.

The Magpies got the better of Tottenham Hotspur 5-1 at home on Sunday afternoon despite ending the game with 10 men.

The performance of Newcastle at St. James’ Park on Sunday was one of their best of the season.

Over 50,000 fans were at the game, and they had a clear message for Benitez: stay.

As the photos above and below show, the Newcastle supporters want the Spaniard to remain in charge of the team next season.

The Magpies will play in the Championship during the 2016-17 campaign, and the supporters want the former Chelsea and Liverpool boss to guide them back to the Premier League.

Newcastle owner Mike Ashley was also at the game on Sunday, and he looked perplexed and worried (see photos above and below).

Ashley invested in the squad in the summer of 2015 and then again in the January transfer window, and it must be difficult for him to understand why the players could not keep the club in the Premier League.
