Newcastle United fans react on Twitter to Andros Townsend being named in England squad

Newcastle United winger Andros Townsend has scored four goals in 12 Premier League starts.

Newcastle United fans have praised Andros Townsend on social media site Twitter, after he was included in England’s provisional squad for Euro 2016.

Roy Hodgson named a 26-man squad for the Three Lions, and Townsend was one of the controversial choices.

Although the squad will be cut down to 23 men before they travel to France, many outsiders felt Townsend had been fortunate to break into his country’s side.

However, Hodgson is a known admirer of the wide-man and his form for England has been impressive before.

Newcastle fans also feel that Townsend is deserving of a place, as he has made a big impact at St. James’ Park.

Townsend moved to Newcastle from Tottenham Hotspur in January, and although he was unable to keep the North East side in the Premier League he has proven his class.

Townsend has netted four goals in 12 Premier League starts for the Magpies, and Newcastle fans are hoping that he will go to Euro 2016, as they feel he could have a big part to play.
