West Ham lost 2-1 to Stoke City on Sunday afternoon.

West Ham United ended the Premier League season with a frustrating defeat after losing 2-1 away to Stoke City on Sunday afternoon.

The Hammers actually took the lead at the Britannia Stadium, with Michail Antonio smashing home from a corner, and after West Ham missed a host of chances, Stoke pounced to win the game with goals from Giannelli Imbula and Mame Biram Diouf.

That result means that West Ham slipped out of the top six, and now need Manchester United to beat Crystal Palace next weekend to guarantee a place in the Europa League.

It was a disappointing end to what has been a stunning season for West Ham, who have been on the fringes of the top four throughout the campaign as manager Slaven Bilic enjoyed a promising first term as Hammers boss.

With away wins over Arsenal, Liverpool and Manchester City, as well as memorable home victories against Chelsea and Manchester United, West Ham have laid the foundations for future success, whilst fans also got to see the magic of Dimitri Payet in the final ever season at Upton Park.

Ahead of the big move to the Olympic Stadium, West Ham stars took to Twitter to send messages to fans about the season, with Michail Antonio and Manuel Lanzini both thanking supporters and looking back on their first seasons as West Ham players.

Adrian, James Tomkins, Angelo Ogbonna, Mark Noble and Andy Carroll also sent messages to fans after the final whistle against Stoke - here are some of the tweets from West Ham players...
