Sunday should have been the final day of the Premier League season, but with Manchester United's game against Bournemouth being abandoned until Tuesday evening, we're not quite at the finish line just yet.
Still, pundit Jamie Redknapp has been looking back on what has been an incredible season, having seen Leicester City defy the odds and win the Premier League, last season's champions Chelsea struggle in midtable, and Newcastle United suffer relegation to the Championship.
Speaking to the Daily Mail, pundit Redknapp has offered his view on the goal of the season, with some superb strikes under consideration for the former Liverpool and Tottenham star.
Redknapp admitted that West Ham star Dimitri Payet was in contention for his inch-perfect, dipping free kick against Crystal Palace back in March, whilst Chelsea ace Eden Hazard was also in the mix having smashed an unstoppable drive into the top corner against Spurs just weeks ago.
However, Redknapp chose Dele Alli's goal against Crystal Palace for Tottenham Hotspur in January, a strike which has received praise for months now.
The 20-year-old famously took the ball down on his chest on the edge of the box, flicked the ball over the head of Palace midfielder Mile Jedinak, and volleyed the ball into the corner of the net for a stunning goal.
Redknapp suggested it was a goal that his son tries to recreate, and whilst Payet and Hazard's goals came close, the 'sheer technique and audacity' displayed by Alli handed him top spot in Redknapp's mind.
"When Dele Alli hit his sensational strike for Spurs against Crystal Palace in January I said it was my goal of the season," said Redknapp. "Even though a couple of players have come close since, it’s still by far my favourite goal. Dimitri Payet’s astonishing free-kick against Palace and Eden Hazard’s finish against Tottenham were contenders but for sheer technique and audacity Alli comes out on top."
"Dele was just 19 but knew exactly what he was doing, flicking over Mile Jedinak, dropping his shoulder and firing the perfect volley. Every young player will have been out on the training pitch trying to replicate it and even my little boy goes in the garden and tries to do it! When you’ve captured the imagination of kids, you know it’s a special goal," he added.
