Gary Lineker has urged England fans to get off the back of Everton defender John Stones.
The 21-year-old centre-back was included in Roy Hodgson’s provisional England squad for EURO 2016 earlier today, and his inclusion has caused controversy.
Stones has not had a particularly impressive season for Everton, and his lack of experience has been exposed on occasion.
Lineker has urged England supporters to give Stones some encouragement, though, as he feels the youngster has a wonderful future.
Let's stop knocking the kid. He's got it all and will be a top England player. https://t.co/7G3togl34x— Gary Lineker (@GaryLineker) May 16, 2016
Stones beat his Everton teammate Phil Jagielka into the England squad, while the likes of Crystal Palace’s Scott Dann also missed out.
Stones already has eight senior England caps to his name, and he looks set to have a big part to play for both club and country.
Stones has played 41 times for Everton throughout the campaign to date.
England’s group matches at EURO 2016 come against Russia, Wales and Slovakia.
