Noble was omitted from the provisional 26-man team that Roy Hodgson named earlier today, with Arsenal’s Jack Wilshere amongst the names to get in ahead of him.
Noble has been in wonderful form for West Ham this season, while Wilshere has made just one start for Arsenal.
However, Hodgson went with the Gunners’ midfielder, leaving James at a loss to the reason behind his selection.
Rashford over Carroll, I can understand. Wilshere over Noble, I don't understand. If it's an age issue, Heaton is uncapped and 30!— David James (@jamosfoundation) May 16, 2016
Hodgson’s squad has featured plenty of controversial selections, with the likes of Marcus Rashford, Fabian Delph and Andros Townsend also surprise inclusions.
Not one West Ham player made the preliminary list, with supporters of the London club angered about the choices.
West Ham trio Aaron Cresswell, Andy Carroll and Michail Antonio were also considered to be in with a chance of making the Three Lions’ squad.
England’s three group matches at EURO 2016 come against Russia, Wales and Slovakia.
