BBC pundit says Everton's Ross Barkley should not make England's Euro 2016 final 23

Everton attacker is in the final 26, but will he miss out?

Former Premier League winner Chris Sutton says he believes Everton's Ross Barkley should not make the final cut for the Euro 2016 squad.

Barkley was named in the 26 man squad, which will need to be cut to 23 before the season starts.

Sutton told BBC Radio 5 Live on Monday night that he feels there are better players available, and Barkley would only be a reserve, naming him as a player he expects to be cut.

He said: "Barkley his best position is in behind, as a number 10. There are better players, Rooney and Alli, it's as simple as that."

Dele Alli Tottenham 10 9
Ross Barkley Everton 8 8
Wayne Rooney Man Utd 7 5

Barkley's production this season suggests he is not inferior to either Barkley or Alli, even if he did not end the season is especially great form under Roberto Martinez.

He has contributed to four more goals overall than Wayne Rooney this past season, but the Manchester United captain has a free pass where England are concerned, as their record goalscorer, there is little chance of the ex-Evertonian being omitted from the final squad, even if purely on form he should not be locked in.
