Wenger confident of vast Arsenal funds, but admits there is a problem

Arsenal are expected to be busy in the summer transfer window.

Arsene Wenger is confident that Stan Kroenke will give him as much money as he wants this summer, but says there is a problem finding players, reports the London Evening Standard.

Arsenal have endured a disappointing campaign, as they have fallen away in the Premier League title race.

They were top of the table as they started 2016, but a disastrous year saw them finish second in the table and far behind winners Leicester City.

Many are calling for the club to open the chequebook and seriously improve the squad this summer, and Wenger says he is confident that there will be as much money available as he wants.

“Stan Kroenke is completely behind myself and the board investing as much money as we want,” the London Evening Standard reports him saying.

“We have resources but the problem is finding players. Everybody has money in England and they’re all after good players.”

If Arsenal are to spend big in the summer transfer window then a world-class striker will surely be top of their wish list.

It has been a problem area for the side for a number of years for the Gunners, with them failing to adequately replace Robin Van Persie.

Olivier Giroud had impressed this season, but struggled in the second half of the campaign, while Theo Walcott has failed to impress in a central role leading to many calling for a striker to be added.
