Tim Howard sends emotional goodbye message to Everton; Kilbane responds

The goalkeeper is set to depart Everton as he returns to America.

Tim Howard has posted an emotional message to Everton fans on social networking site Twitter ahead of his departure.

The goalkeeper is set to leave the club this summer as he heads home to play his football in the United States.

His exit will bring about a decade-long spell at Goodison Park, having joined the Toffees from Manchester United in 2006 and been a first-team regular since then.

He will depart the club with 414 appearances under his belt, following Sunday’s game against Norwich City, the thirteenth highest in the history of the club.

And writing on Twitter, he has told the club’s fans that Goodison Park will always be his home.

The message was well received by the club's fans, while former teammates such as Kevin Kilbane and Victor Anichebe also sent their regards.

It will now be interesting to see if the new Everton manager looks to find a long-term replacement for Howard or sticks by Joel Robles.

The position has become something of an issue for the side in recent seasons, and it is sure to be one of the positions the new Toffees boss will look to address.
