Savage says Leicester City will be better than Celtic in the Champions League

Leicester City and Celtic could meet in the Champions League next season.

Speaking to BBC Radio 5 Live 606, Robbie Savage has predicted that Leicester City will do better than Celtic in the Champions League next season.

Leicester City secured their place in the Champions League next season with their surprise Premier League title success.

Celtic meanwhile, head into the competition after the winning the Scottish Premiership for the fifth successive season.

They have failed to qualify for the group stages under Ronny Deila in his two seasons in charge though, with several disappointing displays in the competition.

And when asked who will do better in the competition next season, Savage says it will be Leicester City, and they would ‘batter’ the Hoops should they ever meet.

“I would say Leicester [will do better],” he told 606. "If Leicester played Celtic they would probably win about 4-0, they would batter Celtic.”

The point is certainly an interesting one from Savage given how both sides have performed this season.

Leicester’s Premier League may have been a surprise one, but the quality of their displays has many believing that they will be a big hit in Europe also.

Unlike Celtic they have had to fight off fierce competition for the title and there are unlikely to be many that would disagree with Savage’s opinion.
