Arsenal moved into second in the table after Tottenham were beaten on the final day.
The final game of the season proved to be an exciting one as Arsenal somehow managed to finish above Tottenham Hotspur.
They entered their final game behind their rivals, with Spurs set to finish above Arsene Wenger’s side for the first time in his long reign.
Instead, Mauricio Pochettino’s side were disastrous in their game against Newcastle United, as the Magpies ran out 5-1 winners in a shocking result.
That gave the Gunners the chance to move into second, and they did just that as they ran out 4-0 winners over Aston Villa.
Their fans were obviously keen to celebrate and mock their fierce rivals, but Savage says it is ridiculous to do so.
“They left Highbury all those years ago to compete with the best in Europe,” he told 606.
“[Instead] they’ve scraped past Tottenham, are ten points behind Leicester City, and they’re celebrating. It’s ridiculous.”
Arsenal’s attention must now turn towards the summer transfer window after what will be considered a disappointing season.
They should have been competing for the title this season as their rivals struggled, but instead they have had to celebrate finishing above Tottenham as their success.
That is not good enough to say the least, and perhaps Savage is right to criticise them for celebrating it.
