Everton hosted Norwich City at Goodison Park on Sunday in what was a game of little importance for both teams.
That saw David Unsworth elect to choose youngsters Tom Davies and Keiran Dowell for his first Everton team and their Toffees debuts.
Neither let him down either as the duo put in highly impressive performances in the comfortable 3-0 win over the Canaries.
They impressive many with their assured displays and Nicholas was one of them, saying they were excellent in the game.
“They introduced two youngsters today and they were excellent,” he told Soccer Saturday.
“They were very comfortable on the ball, elegant and with a good work ethic. They were fabulous to watch. It was quite a young side, and it was refreshing.”
After such impressive debuts, Dowell and Davies will now be hoping there are further first team opportunities in future.
They are certainly at the right club to develop, with the Blues having brought on a number of English youngsters over the last few years, notably Ross Barkley and John Stones.
They have shown that progression is possible, and Dowell and Davies will be keen to follow their paths, and the success they have enjoyed.
