Ibrox side Rangers are reportedly interested in signing Burnley midfielder Joey Barton in the summer transfer window.

Former Hull City star Dean Windass has taken to social networking site Twitter to send a message to Burnley midfielder Joey Barton about his son Josh Windass.

Barton is on the books of Premier League-bound Burnley at the moment, but he is reported to be on the radar of Scottish giants Rangers.

According to BBC Sport, Rangers have made a move to sign the former Newcastle United star on a free in the summer transfer window.

The Gers, who will play in the Scottish Premiership next season after winning the Scottish Championship title this campaign, showed Barton around the Auchenhowie training ground on Saturday, according to the report.

Rangers will also have Josh Windass on their books from next season, having agreed a pre-contract with the Accrington Stanley midfielder back in January.

The 22-year-old midfielder is a very talented young player, and he will be looking to make himself an important part of Mark Warburton’s team next season.

The youngster’s father, Dean Windass, has taken to Twitter to urge Barton to take care of his son at Rangers.
