Lord Sugar suggests Daniel Levy should fine Tottenham Hotspur duo Dele Alli and Mousa Dembele after third-placed finish

Spurs have finished third after a shocking 5-1 defeat at Newcastle United.

Tottenham Hotspur certainly had a game to forget this afternoon as they were thumped 5-1 by Newcastle United in the Premier League.

They lost the game 5-1 despite Newcastle already being relegated and down to ten men after a red card shown to Alexsandar Mitrovic.

So it is fair to say this result came as a shock.

Spurs have now finished third in the Premier League, blowing a chance to finish ahead of their local rivals Arsenal.

This did not go down well with former Tottenham chairman Lord Sugar. He had this to say on Twitter, making reference to a bet he had made with famous Arsenal fan Piers Morgan earlier in the season regarding who would finish higher up in the Premier League this season:

He went on to fret over his favourite team’s upcoming Champions League campaign, and was not happy with midfield duo Dele Alli and Mousa Dembele:

Alli and Dembele both received suspensions for off the ball incidents, Alli for punching West Brom midfielder Claudio Yacob and Dembele for eye-gouging Diego Costa of Chelsea.

The performance today showed that Tottenham do not currently have the strength in depth to cope with two such important influences missing through silly suspensions and, in all likelihood, these acts of petulance have cost Spurs a second-placed finish.

So no wonder Sugar, and many other Tottenham fans, were left so bitterly disappointed.
