Tim Howard will leave Everton in the summer transfer window.

Gary Lineker has taken to social networking site Twitter to thank departing Everton goalkeeper Tim Howard for his service to the club.

Howard will leave Everton in the summer transfer window and join Major League Soccer outfit Colorado Rapids.

The 37-year-old USA international goalkeeper has been at the Toffees for 10 years, having initially joined on loan from Premier League rivals Manchester United.

Former Everton striker Lineker has praised Howard for his service to the Merseyside outfit.

Howard’s performances this season have not been great, and he has lost his place in the Everton starting lineup.

However, it cannot be denied that over the years the American has been superb and will go down as one of the better players in the Toffees’ Premier League history.

Everton will take on already relegated Norwich City at Goodison Park in the Premier League this afternoon.

The Toffees have nothing to play for and are set to finish outside the top 10 in the Premier League this season.
