Liverpool striker Christian Benteke has been linked with a move to West Ham United in the summer transfer window.

Liverpool striker Christian Benteke has told The Daily Mail that he does not want to leave in the summer transfer window.

Benteke, who joined Liverpool from Aston Villa in the summer of 2015, has been linked with a move away from the Reds at the end of the season.

According to a recent report in The Mirror, West Ham will make a £25 million move to sign the Belgium international striker.

The 25-year-old, though, has made it clear that he wants to remain at Anfield for the 2016-17 campaign.

“I think when I signed I didn’t sign for one year,” Benteke told The Daily Mail. “I want to stay here next year.

“I know I’ve had a tough season but I’m going to fight until the end. Everything can change so I keep focused and keep going for the team and myself.

“I think I have the quality, the manager knows my strengths and weaknesses and I’ve no doubt he can make me better.”

Benteke has scored nine goals and created 29 chances in 28 Premier League matches for Liverpool this season.

In six Europa League matches for the Reds this campaign, the striker has scored one goal and created five chances.

According to BBC Sport, Liverpool paid as much as £32.5 million to sign Benteke from Villa in the summer of 2015.

Given the Belgian’s disappointing season, it is unlikely that the Reds would be able to get that much money if they decided to sell him in the summer transfer window.
