Young 'keeper Jed Steer speaks of desire to impress new Aston Villa boss this summer

The stopper has been on loan to Huddersfield Town this season.

Aston Villa have been relegated to the Championship for next season after a dreadful Premier League campaign.

One of the major problem areas that Villa have had this term is the goalkeeping position Brad Guzan has been in poor form this season and Mark Bunn has not exactly excelled in his absence.

In fact, the best Aston Villa goalkeeper this season was probably on loan at Huddersfield Town.

Jed Steer has been on loan with The Terriers this season and is now expected to play a bigger role at Villa Park next season.

He has been speaking about his season this week to the South West Londoner and spoke about his desire to impress his new manager at Villa in the summer:

“Obviously everyone is gutted that the club has been relegated but we are confident of going back up next season and looking forward to impressing the new manager when he comes in.”

Villa are currently on the hunt for a new manager after the departure of Remi Garde in March.

Steer, who has played 38 times for Huddersfield this season, has played for the Villa first team before. He featured in a 1-0 defeat against Burnley back in May 2016 and has also featured in the League and FA Cup for the club.

He is clearly hoping to impress whoever takes over at Villa and earn himself a regular first-team place at the club in next season’s Championship campaign.
