Daryl Janmaat, Aleksandar Mitrovic and Ayoze Perez are all being considered for potential recalls to the Newcastle starting line-up for their clash with Tottenham Hotspur on the final day of the season, the Shields Gazette reports.
The trio were all on the bench for the Magpies' game with Aston Villa last weekend. And while the two strikers managed to get onto the pitch during the game, Janmaat's wait for his first-team return continues.
The Dutchman has not played for Rafael Benitez's men in over a month due to injuries to his groin and hand that were sustained during their defeat to Southampton in April.
Having recovered from the groin strain that forced him off against the Saints, the Shields Gazette reports that it was the injury that he picked up punching a door in frustration that he feared would keep out him for the rest of the season.
However, he will wear a protective cast if he does play, and with the Shields Gazette reporting that Vurnon Anita is a doubt for the game at St James' Park, it is possible that he will come into the side.
Meanwhile, with Papiss Cisse failing to make any kind of impact against the team stuck at the bottom of the table last week, it seems highly likely that Mitrovic or Perez will be brought back into the side as they try to end a poor season on a slightly higher note by beating the team that spent much of the campaign battling for the title.
