Barcelona secured their 24th La Liga success on Sunday afternoon.
Barcelona secured their 24th title success on Saturday afternoon as a hat-trick from Luis Suarez saw them on their way to a comfortable win.
The race for the title had gone right down the wire this year, as a slip earlier in the campaign from Luis Enrique’s side saw Real Madrid still with a chance of success on the final day.
It wasn’t to be, as the brilliance of Suarez once again saw them to a win, with him also finishing up as the league’s highest goalscorer.
Their success means that they will be among the top seeds for next year’s Champions League, and reacting on Twitter, Lineker has joked they will be delighted to be avoiding Premier League champions Leicester City.
Barça join Juve, Bayern, PSG, Leicester etc as top seeds for next season's UCL. Their relief at avoiding the Foxes is palpable.— Gary Lineker (@GaryLineker) May 14, 2016
Lineker was not the only one to tweet his praise either as several other former Barca stars, including Southampton manager Ronald Koeman and Stoke duo Marc Muniesa and Bojan also shared their thoughts.
Congrats to @FCBarcelona_es once again winner of La Liga. After being there for almost the whole season, totally deserved!!— Luis Garcia (@LuchoGarcia14) May 14, 2016
