Manager Roberto Martinez was sacked by Everton on Thursday.
Supporters had been extremely prominent in voicing their frustrations over Martinez, who was the subject of mass protests from Everton fans on a regular basis in recent weeks and months.
They certainly got their wish, but did also one of the 42-year-old's players?
In March, midfielder Steven Pienaar, who at the time hadn't been involved in first-team action for six weeks, blasted the fact that nobody at the club had told him whether or not he was going to be retained (Goal.com), with his contract up this summer.
Martinez's departure was well known before the news officially broke on Thursday, and Pienaar, shortly before Everton confirmed the dismissal, took to Twitter at a suspect time to post a suspect tweet.
Everton fans were quick to react to the South African's cryptic message:
@therealstevenpi you're celebrating that Martinez has been sacked too then lad ?— Dogs of War (@sjv_simon) May 12, 2016
David Unsworth and Joe Royle will take charge of Everton's end-of-season clash with relegated Norwich City tomorrow.
