A look at the Watford striker's season and why he deserves more praise.
While the individual awards have been handed out as the season draws to a close, Watford forward Troy Deeney deserves some recognition for his impressive campaign.
Leicester City duo Riyad Mahrez and Jamie Vardy have rightly taken all the plaudits for inspiring Leicester's unlikely Premier League title success, but Deeney's efforts at Watford have somewhat gone under the radar.
Like Mahrez, Deeney has hit double figures for goals and assists in the Premier League and FA Cup this season and taking into account this is Deeney's first season in the top flight that is an impressive record.
Deeney has netted 12 goals and laid on eight assists in the Premier League, while he has also scored twice and made two assists in Watford's run to the FA Cup semi-finals.
Deeney and his fellow striker Odio Ighalo have been one of the most productive strike partnerships in the country and their record stands up against any of their rivals in the Premier League.
Hornets captain Deeney has led from the front for Watford and he is the heartbeat of the side which is illustrated in that he has been an ever-present in the Premier League this term.
Deeney as well as being a goalscorer is a playmaker with the majority of Ighalo's 18 goals being assisted by the unselfish play of his partner.
Without the goals of Deeney and Ighalo where would Watford be this season?
Deeney has been instrumental in ensuring Watford have not been embroiled in a relegation in their first season back in the top-flight.
While Harry Kane, Sergio Aguero and Jamie Vardy battle it out for the Golden Boot award I bet the majority of Premier League defenders would say they do not like to come up against Deeney because of his all-round game in that he not just scores goals, but also creates them and gives defenders all sorts of problems with his strength and vision.
Watford will be desperate to keep hold of Deeney this summer, but there is sure to be no shortage of interest in the player from Premier League rivals as a result of his stellar form.
In what has been a season of surprises another one is that Deeney has not received the praise his efforts merit.
