Everton parted company with Roberto Martinez on Thursday after a disappointing campaign under his leadership.
The Toffees currently sit 12th in the table, and will finish outside of the top ten for the second successive year.
That ultimately ended up with him losing his job, after the Blues decided to sack him following weeks of speculation about his future.
There is now fierce speculation about who may replace him at Goodison Park, with a number of names having already been linked.
Southampton manager Ronald Koeman is among those who have been named, and according to the Liverpool Echo he is interested in the job.
The Everton board are keen on the Dutchman too, with it thought he has admirers among the Blues hierarchy.
Koeman would certainly be a welcome appointment among the Everton fans, who will be impressed by the work he has undertaken during his time at Southampton.
He has built on the foundations laid by Mauricio Pochettino to turn them into genuine top six contenders, and that would be warmly welcomed at Goodison Park after two disappointing years.
