Ronald De Boer has told the Alan Brazil Sports Breakfast Show, which was broadcast on TalkSPORT on 13th May, that he has not yet discussed whether his brother, Frank, would be interested in the manager’s job at Newcastle United.
Frank De Boer left his job at Ajax earlier this week, and he is now on the look out for work.
Everton have been tipped as a potential destination for the Dutchman, but Newcastle could also be on the look out for a new manager.
At the moment Rafael Benitez is in charge at St. James’ Park, but there are doubts over the former Real Madrid manager’s future.
Benitez has a clause in his contract which means that he is free to leave Newcastle now that their relegation has been confirmed.
Benitez has not publicly stated his plans for the future yet, but if he does leave Newcastle will be required to look elsewhere.
Frank De Boer could be a possible option for the North East club to look at, and when Ronald was asked whether his brother would be interested, he responded: “I think Newcastle is a sleeping giant like Everton. It has unbelievable support and history.
“I didn’t discuss that with my brother, I don’t know if he wants to do that. I don’t know if that is the wish of my brother, but for sure Newcastle is an unbelievable club.”
If Benitez does leave Newcastle, the likes of Steve Bruce and David Moyes have been touted as potential replacements.
