Report: Manchester City lining up swoop for Toni Kroos

Man City Stadium Two

Manchester City are expected to embark on a mass spending spree when Pep Guardiola arrives in the summer.

The Daily Express believes that Manchester City are weighing up a swoop for Real Madrid's German international star - Toni Kroos.

The newspaper claims that the Citizens are especially keen on bringing Kroos to the Etihad, as they look to revamp their midfield.

The German moved to the Spanish capital from Bayern Munich in the summer of 2014, for a fee believed to be in the region of €25 million (£19.6m). The 26-year-old has gone on to make 96 appearances for Los Blancos, scoring three goals along with registering 20 assists.

He is exactly the type of player who could elevate Man City to a new level. He has a winning pedigree, matched by few in the game, and is one of the best passers of the ball on the planet. He has exemplary vision and would provide a fantastic platform from which City's more attack minded stars could flourish.

The newspaper also goes on to claim that Manchester United and Paris Saint-Germain are also interested, and a bidding war could commence that would see the price of Kroos' signature rise to extortionate levels.

Whoever wins the race though, will surely be in a lot stronger position to challenge for titles come the start of next season.
