Mauricio Pochettino admits Tottenham Hotspur need new signings

Tottenham Hotspur are expected to be active in the summer transfer window.

Tottenham Hotspur head coach Mauricio Pochettino has told the Hampstead and Highgate newspaper that the squad needs to be improved this summer.

Spurs have booked their place in the Champions League this season, after putting together a fine campaign.

The Lilywhites will finish in either second or third place in the Premier League table this season, but Pochettino does not want the club to stand still.

The Argentine boss has hinted that he wants to add more depth to the squad, to ensure that they can cope with the demands of such a gruelling schedule next season.

“We need to improve our squad - this is very clear,” he said. “Me, our supporters, our players, our squad - we are all agreed that we need to improve.

“It’s a different level to play in the Champions League. To play in the Champions League, Premier League and the cups, it’s important to have a very good balance. We need to improve our squad.”

According to the Daily Mail, Tottenham will have £60 million to spend in the summer transfer window.

Spurs have already been linked with a host of targets, with Pochettino starting to draw up plans for next season.

There are areas of Tottenham’s squad which need quality adding to, with a striker believed to be near the top of Pochettino’s wishlist.

Spurs’ final game of the season comes against Newcastle United at St. James’ Park at the weekend.
