Aston Villa are searching for a new manager after the departure of Remi Garde in march - and Roberto Di Matteo is the latest name in the frame.
Garde was only appointing back in November, but less than five months later he left the club, with Villa hurtling towards relegation to the Championship.
That relegation has since been confirmed, and after Eric Black took temporary charge of the team following Garde's exit, the search is one for a new manager.
Ever since Garde's exit, former Leicester boss Nigel Pearson was the hot favourite for the job - but that all changed this week when Roberto Di Matteo suddenly shot to the top of the bookmakers' lists.
The Italian has been out of work for almost a year having left his role as Schalke manager at the end of last season, and could be looking for a return to England this summer, having become the favourite for the Aston Villa job earlier this week.
Chelsea hero Di Matteo won the Champions League and FA Cup with the Blues back in 2012, and also won promotion from the Championship with West Bromwich Albion in 2010, giving him some key credentials for the Aston Villa job.
Since an avalanche of bets on Di Matteo heading to Villa Park, Villa fans have taken to Twitter to discuss their feelings about him, and there are seemingly split views on Di Matteo.
Some believe that, given the trophies he has won, he would be a smart choice for Villa, and given their current state, there may not be many better options around.
Others think that Di Matteo isn't the right man for the job, and would prefer the aforementioned Pearson to be appointed due to his tough demeanour and strong character.
Here are some of the reactions from Villa fans after Di Matteo suddenly became the favourite to take the job at Villa Park...
There are worse managers than Di Matteo.— Dan Shewell™ (@djs147) May 11, 2016
Least he has experience of all levels, and is a winner.
Him over Moyes? Not for me #AVFC
If our potential new owners want to appoint Di Matteo as manager we can start packing our bags for relegation all over again joke #avfc— Villa Villain (@UTV31) May 11, 2016
Di Matteo has a great cup winning record, been promoted at that level before and seems a respected manager. Unsure but wouldn't say no #AVFC— Reece (@ReeceLloyd_AV) May 11, 2016
Di Matteo as next Villa manager? I would prefer Moyes but if we couldn't get him then he is a much better option than Pearson #avfc— Andrew Ashburn (@AndrewAshburn) May 11, 2016
Right, so di Matteo won the FA Cup, Champions League and got Albion promoted, but apparently he's not good enough? #AVFC— Dan (@gandriff) May 11, 2016
I may be proven completely wrong, but I'd rather have Pearson than Di Matteo as #avfc manager.— Ben Cadwallader (@caddymation) May 11, 2016
If Di Matteo gets the #avfc job I'll support him..however I do feel we need a bit of a taskmaster & old Roberto seems too much of a nice guy— Gavin Boswell (@gavinboswell) May 11, 2016
Would you like to see Villa appoint Di Matteo?
