Wales confident Ledley will be fit for Euros

The Crystal Palace midfielder is set to be ruled out of the upcoming FA Cup final, but his national side are hopeful he will be fit for the European Championships.

Joe Ledley could still be in contention for a place in the Wales squad for Euro 2016, despite growing fears over a leg fracture suffered in Crystal Palace's 2-1 win over Stoke last weekend.

The midfielder was forced off just 11 minutes after coming as a half-time substitute at Selhurst Park and is set to be ruled out of the FA Cup final with Manchester United later this month.

However, Wales boss Chris Coleman is reportedly confident that Ledley will be able to prove his fitness before the finals in France - the team's first major tournament in 58 years - naming the former Celtic star in his provisional 23-man squad.

Ledley was an integral part of Wales' successful qualifying campaign, making seven appearances as his side finished second in Group B.

Coleman's final squad is due to be submitted by May 31st, with Wales opening their campaign by taking on Slovakia in Bordeaux, and hopes are high that Ledley will make a full recovery.

An FAW spokesperson told the BBC: “As far as we are concerned he still has a chance of playing in the Euros. Obviously our cut-off point is May 31st.”
