The Dutchman is the current bookies' favourite to succeed Roberto Martinez at Goodison Park.
Whoever succeeds Roberto Martinez is set for a busy summer, with several big names also being tipped to depart, and De Boer's inside knowledge of Ajax would certainly come in handy.
With that in mind, here are three players the Dutchman could poach from his former employers.
3) Jasper Cillessen
Cillessen was linked to the Toffees by the Echo last month, after the club reportedly sent scouts to watch him against PSV Eindhoven. As Holland's number 1 goalkeeper, he'd be an upgrade on current incumbents Joel Robles and Tim Howard and, at 27 years of age, his services can still be enjoyed long-term. De Boer signed the former NEC Nijmegen shot-stopper as back-up and eventually promoted him to first-choice.
2) Joel Veltman
A relative late bloomer, Veltman didn't properly break into De Boer's plans until the 2013-14 season, but ended it in Louis van Gaal's 2014 World Cup squad. Though only 5ft 11, the centre-back is strong in the air, while his comfort in possession would make him the ideal replacement for John Stones, who's been linked with a move to Manchester City in recent weeks. The 24-year-old, like Cillessen, has two years left on his contract.
1) Arkadiusz Milik
Another player being tipped to depart Goodison Park this summer is Romelu Lukaku, the Toffees' top scorer with 25. Milik, though, is only one short of the Belgian's tally, despite having played three fewer games this season (yes, the Eredivisie, yadda, yadda, yadda). The 22-year-old Pole will be one to watch at this summer's Euros, where he is set to line up alongside Robert Lewandowski. He is, however, equally capable of taking on a more isolated role at Everton next season.
