Talksport pundit’s observation about Roberto Martinez and Everton players

Everton are having a bad season in the Premier League.

Former Newcastle United forward Micky Quinn said on the Alan Brazil Sports Breakfast show on talkSPORT on Thursday morning (broadcast from 6am, May 12) that Roberto Martinez had lost the dressing room at Everton.

Martinez had come under pressure this season due to Everton’s performances and results in the Premier League.

The Toffees are set to finish outside of the top 10, with the players underperforming throughout the campaign.

Former Newcastle forward Quinn, who is a Liverpool fan, believes that Martinez had lost the dressing room, and claimed that the player were not playing for him anymore.

“I just think he has lost the respect of the players, Roberto Martinez,” said the Englishman on the Alan Brazil Sports Breakfast show on talkSPORT on Thursday morning (broadcast from 6am, May 12).

“The players don’t look like they are playing for him. They look like they chuck the towel in as soon as they concede a goal. I am afraid there is nothing else but him going and someone else coming in.”

Since Quinn's made the observation, Everton have sacked Martinez as the manager. The Spaniard is a good boss, but he failed to show much progress with the Toffees over the past two seasons.

The Merseyside outfit are a big club, and given the squad they have at the moment, they should be competing for a top-six finish. Instead, Everton are going to end up outside the top 10, below Southampton and Stoke City.
