Strongly touted would-be Leeds boss Karl Robinson described Lewis Cook as scary

Karl Robinson would build his side around Lewis Cook, if appointed.

Karl Robinson is one of the frontrunners to be the next Leeds United boss, with Steve Evans unlikely to be retained.

SkyBet list MK Dons boss Robinson among the top three candidates, behind only John Sheridan and Beppe Iachini, and at one stage on Thirsday he was priced at Evens to land the role.

Robinson has just suffered relegation with MK Dons, but after taking them up the previous season he remains highly regarded.

If Robinson gets the job, Lewis Cook can expect to play a key role in the team, after the manager raved about him earlier this season.

After a 1-1 draw between the two clubs, Robinson told OneMK: "What a footballer Lewis Cook is, and he is as talented as I've seen in a long time.

"Fair to play to them for putting on a number of young players towards the end of the game and I love that.

"I love seeing young kids come through and flourish and clubs the like of Leeds United when the academy system and the development system has been fantastic for so many years and successful. He scared me!"

Robinson was key in the development of Dele Alli at MK Dons, and his singling out of Cook was high praise. If he was convinced to join Leeds, then the chance to work with Cook and help him kick on.

He would have to push hard to keep him, with Cook's contract set to expire in June 2017, and after the way MK Dons failed to capitalise on the money spent for selling Dele Alli, he should be able to drive home to Cellino that keeping the player is more valuable than any amount of cash in the bank they would receive.
