Oldham fan Paul Scholes is keen for Sheridan to remain at the club.
Manchester United and England legend Paul Scholes has praised Oldham Athletic boss John Sheridan.
Scholes is an Oldham fan and was delighted to see the Latics retain their League One place this past season.
Sheridan re-joined as manager in January and has in recent days been linked with taking the role at the club he played almost 300 games for, Leeds United.
He is the bookies favourite for the Whites job, with The Mirror claiming he has held talks with owner Massimo Cellino.
Scholes is a fan of Sheridan and has had this to say to Oldham's official website:
"I think it was a great appointment at the time and he has great experience. He did a great job here last time and once again he has come in and turned it right around.
“When he came in, they looked certainties for relegation but he made them solid and they started to win games which was important.
"Shez has great contacts in the game and he will be able to bring players in here. I think he will have targets to get in the play-offs at least.”
Unfortunately for Scholes, Sheridan could be targeting different play-offs with Leeds United next season.
His praise of Sheridan's managerial ability and contacts bode well should the Irishman get the chance to try and push his former club back to the Premier League, a division they have been out of for the last 12 years.
