Sunderland beat Everton yesterday evening to confirm that they would not be relegated.

Patrick van Aanholt and Lamine Kone have both celebrated Sunderland’s survival in the Premier League on Twitter.

Sunderland beat Everton 3-0 yesterday evening to confirm that they would retain their place in England’s top flight next term.

The Black Cats could have been nervous knowing what was at stake yesterday evening, but they responded to the pressure well.

From the start of the match, Sunderland looked more desperate to win the three points than Everton and they largely dominated.

Van Aanholt put the Wearsiders into the lead with a free-kick, before Kone scored twice from close range to seal the victory.

The goalscorers were delighted to have helped Sunderland pick up a huge three points, and they posted messages on social media.

By beating Everton last night, Sunderland relegated both Newcastle United and Norwich City.

Sunderland’s last match of the season comes against Watford at Vicarage Road and it should be a party atmosphere.
