Celtic winger Patrick Roberts has revealed on the club’s official Twitter page that Liverpool legend Steven Gerrard was his idol growing up.
Roberts, who joined Scottish Premiership giants Celtic on loan from Premier League outfit Manchester City in the January transfer window, has also disclosed that Barcelona forward Lionel Messi is his current idol.
Gerrard, a former England international midfielder, is one of the greatest players in Liverpool history.
Now at MLS side Los Angeles Galaxy, the 35-year-old was one of the best box-to-box players the footballing world has ever seen during his time at Anfield.
Messi is the best player in the world at the moment, and it should not come as a surprise that Roberts adores him.
The 19-year-old winger has revealed on Celtic’s official Twitter page that his favourite moment in a Celtic shirt came last weekend.
The England Under-19 international scored twice for the Bhoys in a 3-2 victory over Aberdeen at Celtic Park on Sunday afternoon. The win confirmed Celtic’s status as the 2015-16 Scottish Premiership champions.
