Newcastle United supporters have slated Everton goalkeeper Joel Robles’ performance against Sunderland yesterday evening.
Newcastle were relying on Everton to pick up a result at the Stadium of Light, to give them some hope of avoiding the drop.
Everton were throughly outplayed for much of the match, but Robles’ performance in goal did not help his side.
The Spaniard was partly at fault for two of the goals that Sunderland conceded in the contest, leaving Newcastle fans furious.
A season is played over 38 games but Joel Robles did not help #nufc's cause.— Jordan Cronin (@jordancronin_) May 11, 2016
I've got more to my life than watching Joel fall over multiple times and empty red seats anyways! I'm now into rugby #NUFC— Taz (@Tazbio123) May 11, 2016
That goalkeeping... Don't think Robles will have a job in the Prem for much longer... Just like our players #nufc— Matt English (@MattyEngo) May 11, 2016
Nice to see Everton are trying hard for us cheers Joel— jackmoody (@Jackmoody1997) May 11, 2016
I wouldn't be planning any trips to Newcastle in the near future if I was Joel Robles.— Chris Whiting (@Whiting9) May 11, 2016
Robles first tried to guess where Patrick van Aanholt’s free-kick was going, and ended up completely wrong footed.
He then had difficulties dealing with a set pieces, and could only palm the ball straight into the path of Lamine Kone, who prodded home from close range to secure the three points.
Newcastle are now set to play Championship football again for the first time since the 2009/10 campaign.
