Newcastle United fans react on Twitter to Everton goalkeeper Joel Robles' performance against Sunderland

Sunderland's win over Everton yesterday, saw Newcastle United slip into the Championship.

Newcastle United supporters have slated Everton goalkeeper Joel Robles’ performance against Sunderland yesterday evening.

Newcastle were relying on Everton to pick up a result at the Stadium of Light, to give them some hope of avoiding the drop.

However, the Toffees put in a terrible performance against the Black Cats and fell to a 3-0 defeat on Wearside.

Everton were throughly outplayed for much of the match, but Robles’ performance in goal did not help his side.

The Spaniard was partly at fault for two of the goals that Sunderland conceded in the contest, leaving Newcastle fans furious.

Robles first tried to guess where Patrick van Aanholt’s free-kick was going, and ended up completely wrong footed.

He then had difficulties dealing with a set pieces, and could only palm the ball straight into the path of Lamine Kone, who prodded home from close range to secure the three points.

Newcastle are now set to play Championship football again for the first time since the 2009/10 campaign.
