The Liverpool legend says that he would take the Everton managerial job only to guide them down to the Championship.
Former Liverpool defender Carragher has joked that he would take the job at Goodison Park, but to guide them down to the Championship.
The former England international jokingly make the comment to an Everton fan on Twitter when asked if he would take the managerial role.
Meanwhile, former West Ham United midfielder Jack Collison has taken to Twitter to express his disappointment at the departure of Martinez from the Merseyside outfit.
I'd love the opportunity to take you to the championship. https://t.co/TMO8Uo4Oue— Jamie Carragher (@Carra23) May 12, 2016
Gutted Everton have sacked Martinez... Always been a big fan and think he would have turned it around again if allowed the time to do so.— Jack collison (@jackcollison) May 12, 2016
Carragher is a Liverpool legend, and he will certainly not want Everton to succeed. It is interesting that the former defender does not even try to hide that.
It will be interesting to see which manager the Toffees go for now and when they make the appointment.
The Merseyside outfit must make a careful and well-thought decision, if they are to make themselves a force in English football in the coming years.
