Darren Bent predicts Brighton & Hove Albion will beat Sheffield Wednesday

Derby County will want to take on the winners of Sheffield Wednesday's tie against Brighton & Hove Albion.

Derby County striker Darren Bent has told the Alan Brazil Sports Breakfast Show, which was broadcast on TalkSPORT on 12th May, that he believes Brighton & Hove Albion will beat Sheffield Wednesday in the play offs.

Wednesday and Brighton get the Championship play offs underway on Friday evening, in what looks set to be a thrilling clash.

The Owls are the outsiders to gain promotion, as they finished in sixth place this season - 15 points behind their opponents, Brighton.

However, the Seagulls go into the match having to deal with the disappointment at missing out on automatic promotion on the final day of the campaign.

Brighton were tasked with going to Middlesbrough and winning to earn a place in the top two, but they could only pick up a draw.

It will be up to Chris Hughton’s side to bounce back from that disappointment quickly if they are still to get promoted, and Bent has backed them to do just that.

“If I had to pick one I’d probably go with Brighton,” the England international striker said. “Hillsborough is an intimating place, but I believe Brighton will probably win that tie.”

If Bent’s prediction does come true, he will be hoping that his Derby side can take the Seagulls on at Wembley.

Derby meet Hull City in the other play off tie, with the two sides set to meet on Saturday.
