Spurs are second in the league table at the moment with 70 points from 37 matches, two points ahead of North London rivals Arsenal, who are currently third in the standings.
Mauricio Pochettino’s side are favourites to finish second, and Lloris has highlighted the significance of this achievement.
“Finishing second would mean we are above the likes of Manchester City, Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool and Manchester United, and that is a big achievement,” the France international told The London Evening Standard. “It will be a great feeling because we feel competitive.
“We have changed how our clubs see us and that is very important. Now we need to continue in this way. This is just the beginning for Spurs.”
Former Tottenham to finish second, they need just a draw with relegation candidates Newcastle United away from home at St. James’ Park on Saturday afternoon as they have a very superior goal difference to Arsenal.
This has been a very successful season for Spurs, who are guaranteed to finish above Manchester City, Manchester United, Liverpool and Chelsea in the league table.
City and Chelsea have the best squads in the Premier League (on paper, at least), and it is a great feat of Spurs to be ahead of them.
