Tottenham should take gamble to rescue Aston Villa's Adama Traore

Why Tottenham should take a look at Adama Traore.

Aston Villa could be forced into a decision over Adama Traore this summer, with a report in The Mail last month claiming he is set for a pay rise despite their relegation to the Championship.

The former Barcelona prospect failed to live up to his potential after signing last season, struggling with injuries and also failing to win over Remi Garde.

The 20-year-old even posted a rant on Facebook expressing his frustration with the club recently, and Villa would be smart to consider cutting their losses if a decent offer comes in.

One club who should consider a move is Tottenham, for putting Traore in a situation where he is better set up to succeed, may allow him to do just that.

Traore is a tricky winger and a flair player, one who was simply a luxury Aston Villa could not afford during a desperate relegation scrap.

At Tottenham he would find a very different scenario, and would not be expected to make an immediate impact. He would be able to be an understudy to the increasingly impressive Erik Lamela, and work under the tutelage of Mauricio Pochettino, who would make sure he adds the required work ethic to his game.

Traore was signed by former Spurs boss Tim Sherwood last summer, who told The Birmingham Mail: "He’s a bit of Messi and Ronaldo! He is very dynamic."

The winger has plenty of potential and at a bargain price he would be an investment worth considering, potentially able to blossom in a more stable environment.
