Sunderland stopper Vito Mannone sends out Twitter war-cry ahead of crunch relegation clash

The Italian will be hoping to keep Everton at bay.

This evening could see Sunderland book their place in the Premier League for next season.

The Black Cats take on Everton this evening at the Stadium of Light and know that if they pick up a win in the game they will stay up – condemning fierce rivals Newcastle United and Alex Neil’s Norwich City to Championship football.

The game looks tough on paper but Everton are in poor form and have nothing to play for in the game – other than, perhaps, the future of Roberto Martinez.

So Sunderland will feel they have a great chance at putting the relegation battle to bed this evening.

One man who is clearly pumped up for the occasion is goalkeeper Vito Mannone.

The Italian stopper sent out this tweet earlier in the day:

Mannone had to battle for the number one goalkeeping jersey with Costel Pantilimon and Jordan Pickford this season.

The Romanian ended up getting sold to Watford and Pickford is now playing back-up to the Italian stopper.

He has put in some great performances recently and will be hoping to do so once again to get the better of Everton tonight and help Sunderland stay in the Premier League.
