According to respected French radio station RMC Sport, Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino has spoken to mentor Marcelo Bielsa about a possible move for Newcastle flop Florian Thauvin.
Spurs will be keen to strengthen their squad this summer as they prepare for the Champions League group stage, and manager Pochettino could look to add another winger to his side.
Intriguingly, RMC Sport report that Spurs manager Pochettino has an interest in Newcastle's Florian Thauvin, and is gathering information from outside sources about the Frenchman.
The 23-year-old joined Newcastle from Marseille last summer, but made just five starts before being loaned back to Marseille in January for the rest of the season.
The winger has now hit two goals for Marseille since his return to the Stade Velodrome, and is scheduled to return to St. James' Park this summer - but with the Magpies seemingly on the verge of relegation to the Championship, Thauvin could be one player on the chopping block.
Many would expect Thauvin to head back to France on a permanent basis, but now it's claimed that Tottenham and Inter Milan are keen to land him.
RMC Sport report that Pochettino is a fan of Thauvin but has asked for advice from his own mentor and Thauvin's former Marseille boss Marcelo Bielsa - a similar to situation to when L'Equipe reported last month that Pochettino had talked to the Argentine about Marseille striker Michy Batshuayi.
Having struggled so much at Newcastle, Spurs fans may be sceptical on Thauvin, but after seeing how Pochettino revitalised another struggling, left footed winger in Erik Lamela, he could be the man to help Thauvin realise his potential, with RMC Sport suggesting that Spurs have already contacted his representatives about a summer deal.
Do you think Thauvin is good enough for Spurs?
