Former Arsenal midfielder Ray Parlour may not live down dismissing Anthony Martial as a flop before he had even kicked a ball in the Premier League.
Interviewed by SkySports during a 'hit or miss' segment last September after Martial's big money move from Monaco, Parlour said he expected Martial to be a 'miss'.
Last night he bagged his 15th and 16th goals of the season for United as they suffered a 3-2 loss to West Ham, and Parlour made an admission that he got it wrong.
He sent fans a message on Twitter holding his hands up, admitting there is no denying that Martial has been impressive, describing him as a 'great talent'.
Hold my hands up all you united fans. Martial been superb this season. Great talent— Ray Parlour (@RealRomfordPele) May 10, 2016
This was Parlour's attempt to draw a line under his previous comment, but whether United fans ever let him forget it is another matter.
It illustrates how a rush to judgement over signings, before they have even kicked a ball for their clubs, can be so dramatically wrong.
Parlour had warning, Martial was an instrumental part of the Monaco side which knocked Arsenal out of the Champions League months before his big move.
