The Argentine went for lunch with the former Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson.
Yesterday saw a picture emerge that had Tottenham Hotspur fans panicking. Their manager Mauricio Pochettino, who has verbally agreed to a new deal at White Hart Lane, was spotted meeting Manchester United legend and ambassador Sir Alex Ferguson for lunch in London.
The Argentine is a big favourite with Sir Alex and has been linked with taking over at Manchester United when Louis van Gaal departs.
So there was reason to be concerned.
At least that is the belief of Liverpool legend and Sky Sports pundit Phil Thompson.
“(Tottenham fans should be) very worried.
“Sir Alex Ferguson has a great relationship with a lot of managers and I think they said this was all pre-planned or something and had been in the diary.
“If I was a Spurs fan I would be worrying because we have heard about Louis van Gaal, will he stay or will he go? Mourinho coming in you just feel there is a wind of change coming at Manchester United.”
Pochettino has previously made it clear that he would like to remain at Tottenham going forward but Spurs fans will be concerned that he is getting chummy with a man who still holds a lot of influence at Old Trafford.
However, links to Manchester United have not ceased especially with Louis van Gaal’s future looking increasingly like being away from the club.
Spurs fans will however hope that Pochettino sees the future at White Hart Lane as brighter than that at Old Trafford.
