Klopp responds to Benteke speculation, makes an amusing remark

West Ham United are reportedly interested in signing Christian Benteke from Liverpool in the summer transfer window.

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has suggested to talkSPORT that Christian Benteke will not join Premier League rivals West Ham United in the summer transfer window.

According to a recent report in The Mirror, West Ham will make a £25 million move to sign the Belgium international striker.

The 25-year-old moved to Liverpool from Aston Villa in the summer of 2015, but his performances this season have left much to be desired.

Moreover, under Klopp, the 25-year-old has failed to establish himself as a first-team regular.

Benteke has scored eight goals and created 29 chances in 27 Premier League matches for the Reds this season.

Klopp, though, has played down speculation linking the former Genk striker with a move away from Anfield in the summer transfer window..

The former Borussia Dortmund coach has also said that some of the players who are linked with moves to Liverpool are unknown to him.

"I read transfer rumours in October,” Klopp told talkSPORT regarding selling Benteke for £25m. "We work the whole day and of course we work on the squad for next year.

"Of course we think about transfers, we think about everything, but a lot of rumours are really far away from the actual thing.

"It is really funny when you are involved. Sometimes I've never heard of the player who has been linked with Liverpool."

It must be quite amusing for Klopp to see Liverpool linked with players he has never heard of.
