C Suisse announces new Deputy Global Chief Investment Officer

Credit Suisse have announced that Burkhard Varnholt will join the Bank as Deputy Global Chief Investment Officer in Investment Solutions & Products (IS&P) in International Wealth Management.

In addition he will become Vice-Chairman of the Credit Suisse Investment Committee and a member of the IS&P Management Committee. Varnholt will assume this role on November 1 2016.

This key hire will further strengthen the International Wealth Management division’s investment capabilities. IS&P constitutes the largest and most integrated setup in the industry, comprising Research, Strategy, Advisory, Product Selection, Investment Delivery and Mandate Solutions.

Michael Strobaek, Global CIO and Head of Investment Solutions & Products said: “Burkhard Varnholt will support us in further developing our global investment engine. He will significantly contribute to translating our global views into actionable investment ideas and solutions and further advancing our ambitious goals in IS&P.”

Varnholt joins Credit Suisse from Julius Bär, where he was the Chief Investment Officer. Prior to that, he spent eight years at Bank Sarasin, where he was most recently the Chief Investment Officer and a member of the Executive Committee. Varnholt brings over 20 years of experience in the financial industry with a focus on investment strategy and advisory services.

Varnholt will be based in Zurich and report to Michael Strobaek, Global CIO and Head of Investment Solutions & Products.
