The England international midfielder was ruled out for pretty much the rest of the season with a knee injury suffered during the 1-1 draw with Borussia Dortmund in the Europa League.
However, Henderson has told reporters that his recovery his going well, and the upcoming Europa League final against Sevilla is a target he has in mind for his return to action.
“I've had a good week so far, so hopefully I can have another good week and see where I am at the end of that. I'm being very positive, I'm working very hard and hopefully it's sooner rather than later,” he told Sky Sports.
"That [Europa League final] would be the main priority for me. It would be huge just to be involved and I'd love to be a part of that if I could.”
Aside from initially expecting to miss the rest of Liverpool’s campaign, Henderson’s spot in England’s squad for this summer has also been questioned with fitness likely to be an issue.
In his place, James Milner has taken over the captain duties for Liverpool though the former Manchester City man says Henderson will lift the Europa League trophy if they win it, regardless of whether he plays or not.
The Reds progressed to the final following a 3-1 aggregate win over La Liga side Villarreal, and they come up against a Sevilla team who have won the competition for the last two years in succession.
