Leicester City boss confirms interest in free-scoring forward Gianluca Lapadula

Leicester City have been linked with Gianluca Lapadula.

Leicester City boss Claudio Ranieri has confirmed his side’s interest in Pescara forward Gianluca Lapadula, talking to reporters for Gazzetta Dello Sport.

According to a recent report by GianlucaDiMarzio, the Foxes sent scouts at the weekend to watch the free-scoring forward in action as they step up their interest ahead of the summer.

Lapadula has netted 24 league goals for the Serie B side this season, attracting plenty of attention in the process.

When asked by reporters on the matter, Ranieri admits his side have been watching the forward for some time and hinted they may look to do some business in the Italian market this summer.

“We may look at Italy during the next transfer market. Lapadula is very good, and we have followed his progress for some time,” Ranieri told Italian publication Gazzetta Dello Sport.

The East Midlands club have shocked all this season as they remarkably won the Premier League title last week despite starting the campaign as huge 5000-1 outsiders.

With Champions League football at their disposal next season, many have speculated the club will look to bring in some big-name players from abroad.

However, Ranieri has already hinted that Leicester will seek to strengthen areas of the squad with similar hardworking players and Lapadula is one who certainly fits into that category.
